AUSTIN, Texas -- It's not every day we have the opportunity to go outdoor ice skating here in Texas. So when we do, we've got to take advantage.
The Rooftop Rink at the Whole Foods downtown is now open every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (except Christmas) through January 20.
In this edition of Sunrise Sweat, Stef gives us some pointers before you hit the ice for the first time.
So many of us struggle to find ways to stay active during these colder months, and ice skating is a great work out. Coach Kathy Goeke says skating laps around the rink for a full hour burns about 460 calories.
Plus, skating knows no age -- once you learn, it's a skill you'll have for life! There is indoor skating year round in Austin. Chaparral Ice is open for public skates, group lessons, figure skating and hockey all year long.
