Austin Events
Austin is well-known for events like SXSW and ACL, but there's so much more to do in the Capital City.
While tourists may focus on Sixth Street, we Austinites know some of the best events are those that only we locals know about. Every week, there are things to do, from pop-up flea markets, to indie showcases, to movies in the park.
Austin Food
Let's face it, if there's one thing we know how to do in Austin, it's eat. It's a food lover's playground. Of course there are the staples that everyone know about, from Eddie V's to Kerby Lane, but we locals know the Austin food scene boasts hundreds of unique eateries.
There are even raging debates about the best BBQ in the city, where you can get the best Tex-Mex, and which food trucks are truly to die for.

I’m excited to get in my usual karaoke sessions at Ego’s or Hole in the Wall throughout January. I’m also looking forward to all the Black History Month events that are happening at the George Washington Carver Museum in February. - Jordan Hicks
I look forward to running around the trail while the weather still isn’t too hot! I know a lot of people complain about the gym being super busy in the weeks following the New Year but I love the feeling of a group run around Lady Bird Lake. We’re all out enjoying Austin’s beauty together! - LeAnn Wallace
This New Year, I’m looking forward to exploring the hidden gems that show off the natural beauty of Texas. I’m making plans to visit Palo Duro Canyon State Park and as travel as far as Big Bend. There’s still so much more I need to explore around Enchanted Rock, and I might even do some climbing there. This January, I’m also taking steps to help the environment, by taking on a more sustainable lifestyle. - Reena Diamante
