Good morning, North Carolina! Here's what you need to know today.

The Big Story

EV transition not happening as quickly as some hoped

The Biden Administration is spending billions of dollars to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, but sales aren’t growing as fast as they once were.

In North Carolina, VinFast, a Vietnamese automaker, broke ground last July on a massive investment in electric vehicles. The plans are for a $4 billion factory outside of Raleigh that will employ 7,500 people and initially build 150,000 electric vehicles a year.

But now there’s a question of when the factory may open.

Your Weather Planner

High pressure over the Ohio River Valley will continue to build south into the state, providing some nice June weather over the next few days.

Humidity levels will be tolerable, especially in the Piedmont and mountains. Skies will be mostly sunny to, at times, partly cloudy, with a minute chance for a pop-up shower with the exception being the coast.

Highs will be in the 70s in the mountains and Outer Banks with 80s elsewhere. The big story later this week will be the building heat.
