1. Child dead in suspected murder and attempted suicide in Anson County, SBI says
North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation officials are investigating a murder and attempted suicide in Anson County involving a young child. According to authorities, a woman called 911 about 3 a.m. Monday to report that her daughter and vehicle had been taken from her Polkton home, allegedly by the child’s father.
Retirees are prepping for major changes within the Social Security Administration. The agency will no longer permit over the phone identity verifications for recipients. A North Carolina nonprofit is expecting to see a boost in its services due to the SSA changes.
3. K-9 units zero in on spot along Tar River as search for child continues
The State Bureau of Investigation is continuing its search for a missing 7-year-old boy who fell into the Tar River a week ago. SBI human remains detection dogs have identified a potential area of interest, and search teams are actively investigating there, authorities said.
