Police: Suspect dead after-hours long standoff leaves 2 deputies dead

The deputies were shot Wednesday morning while conducting a welfare check at a home in Watauga County.

The sheriff said Wednesday night one deputy died from injuries. Police announced the other deputy's death this morning.
