Wednesday and Thursday will be sunny and seasonable with a warm-up in the forecast for Friday and the weekend.

1. Evacuation zones expanded as western North Carolina wildfires grow
Mandatory evacuation orders and a statewide burn ban remain in place as crews in Polk County continue to battle a series of wildfires. Three fires in the county south of Asheville have already burned through at least 5,700 acres. Emergency officials expanded mandatory evacuation zones around the fires Tuesday.
2. Potential EPA cuts could have big impact at N.C. campus
More than a thousand jobs could be on the chopping block at the EPA. Hundreds of those jobs could come from the EPA’s Research Triangle Park campus. As much as 75% of the agency’s Office of Research and Development could be eliminated.
3. Trump downplays national security team texting military operation plan on Signal as a minor 'glitch'
President Donald Trump downplayed the texting of sensitive plans for a military strike against Yemen's Houthis this month to a group chat that included a journalist, saying it was "the only glitch in two months" of his administration as Democratic lawmakers heaped criticism on the administration for handling highly sensitive information carelessly.
4. Missing Guilford Co. 10-year-old found in Upstate New York, sheriff's office says
After a plea for the public's help finding a missing 10-year-old boy, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said the child was found with family in Syracuse, New York. They said the child was last seen around noon Monday on Field Pine Drive in Browns Summit.
