North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper is set to be among the final speakers before Vice President Kamala Harris accepts the Democratic presidential nomination at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday.
North Carolina is a state that voted for Trump in 2020 but is now a major pickup opportunity for Harris.
Cooper said there's more optimism about Democrats' chances with Harris as the candidate.

The North Carolina elections board on Tuesday approved the first digital identification that can be used to meet state voter ID requirements, signing off on mobile credentials offered to students and employees at the state's flagship public university.

A man is accused of causing around $15,000 worth of damage early Tuesday. No one was hurt in the fire, officials said. The fire was set just after 2:30 a.m. at the Barringer Gardens retirement homes on Dr. Carver Road off West Boulevard.
