Sweltering July heat and humidity continues to build as we head toward the end of the week.
Friday is shaping up to be an active weather day with upper-level disturbances rotating through the state. They will tap into the very warm and humid airmass, and some strong storms will be possible. We'll keep our eyes on these storms through the day. Otherwise, just more heat and humidity building with temperatures similar to Thursday but with a lot more humidity.
The active pattern continues for Saturday with the heat and humidity continuing. If you are out for any period of time over the weekend, make sure you're hydrating and protecting yourself from the heat.

A cyberattack on Cornelius was detected early, officials said, and the town was able to contain the damage. Hackers tried to attack the town with ransomware, which means they could lock up the town's system and demand ransom to unlock it.
3. Parkgoer who reported crack on roller coaster speaks out
On June 30, Fury 325 closed after Carowinds personnel became aware of a crack at the top of a steel support pillar. The damage was spotted by a parkgoer who took photos and reported the issue.
