Good evening, North Carolina. We’re wrapping up the day for you with the most important stories you need to know and your weather outlook.

Your Weather Planner

Scattered showers will be possible early tonight in the mountains and foothills as a weak cold front approaches. Rain will be spotty and amounts generally light. There might be a couple of rumbles of thunder as well. The rest of the state will remain dry.

Expect dry weather this weekend and through much of next week. A push of cooler October air will arrive late Monday or early Tuesday, with temperatures running a few degrees below average. Higher elevations in the mountains could experience the first 30s of the season by midweek.

Tropics

Kirk and Leslie are way out in the eastern Atlantic and no threat to the U.S. We will watch for development in the Gulf of Mexico next week.
