1. Polk County wildfires grow to more than 4,800 acres as windy conditions continue
A statewide burn ban issued Friday morning remains in effect as warm, dry and breezy weather continues. Smoke from fires in South Carolina is also impacting air quality in the area. Officials said that high winds and terrain in the mountainous western part of the state created challenges.

“I want to thank the General Assembly. They didn’t do all that I asked them to do, but they got us started,” Stein said. He and lawmakers hinted at more Helene funding in the months ahead. He also recently went to the nation's capitol to meet with U.S. Senators Thom Tillis and Ted Budd.
3. Trump administration asks Supreme Court to halt judge's order to rehire probationary federal workers
The emergency appeal also calls on the conservative-majority court to rein in the growing number of federal judges who have slowed President Donald Trump's sweeping agenda, at least for now, by finding that his administration hasn't followed federal law.
4. Trump says countries that buy Venezuelan oil will face 25% tariffs
Venezuela will face a "Secondary" tariff because it is the home to the gang Tren de Aragua, he said. The Trump administration is deporting immigrants that it claims are members of that gang who illegally crossed into the United States.
