A western North Carolina couple is finding support from their community after losing their home in the Black Cove Complex Fire.

2. Hurricanes set to open first street hockey rinks at Apex park

A grand opening for the two outdoor rinks is set for Saturday afternoon and features food trucks, bounce houses and appearances by two Hurricanes players.

3. Looking back: A tornado outbreak in N.C. 41 years ago caused 57 deaths

Twenty-two tornadoes ripped through South and North Carolina on March 28, 1984, killing 57 people. Some reports estimate another 1,200 were injured.

4. 'Very concerning': NCDHHS director adapts to recent federal funding impacts

The state Department of Health and Human Services is feeling a major financial ripple effect from federal funding cuts. Federal COVID-19 funding paid for pandemic resources such as vaccinations and disease monitoring.
