1. Real ID deadline approaching in North Carolina
On May 7, a Real ID or a passport will be required to board a plane or enter certain federal buildings or sites. The Real ID Act was passed by congress in 2005 in response to the 9-11 attacks, but the implementation deadline has been pushed back multiple times.
2. Trump and Putin holding call on ceasefire, but Zelenskyy skeptical Russia is ready for peace
President Donald Trump is holding talks Tuesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin as he looks to get buy-in on a U.S. ceasefire proposal he hopes can create a pathway to ending Russia's devastating war on Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy remains skeptical that Putin is doing much beyond paying lip service to Trump as Russian forces continue to pound his country.
3. Search continues for missing child along N.C. river
Franklin County Emergency Services said they spent nearly seven hours searching the river for the child before suspending operations early Tuesday morning. Franklin County is northeast of Raleigh. The Tar River runs southeast through the county, including through the county seat of Louisburg.
