A bill banning shrimp trawling within a half mile of the North Carolina coast will not be moving forward in the General Assembly.
House Rep. Keith Kidwell came out of a caucus Wednesday afternoon and said, “the bill is essentially dead.”
The Senate voted in favor of the bill last week, and a separate bill was passed Tuesday that would have compensated shrimpers forced to leave the industry because of the ban.

Your Weather Planner

Wednesday should be our last "really" hot day for a while.

Whereas afternoon highs will still run above average through the rest of the week and into the upcoming weekend, we are not looking at any record-setting temperatures.

We will only see a slight shower and storm chance on Thursday with some chance that a few storms may be strong to severe with gusty winds being the main severe weather threat. Afternoon highs will reach the 90s.
