Storms will gradually come to an end overnight, leaving us mostly clear to partly cloudy on Thursday morning. Temperatures will be warm again with the humidity sticking us with lows in the lower to middle 70s.
We'll stay mostly dry Thursday morning with partly to mostly cloudy skies at the beginning of the day. Expect temperatures to climb quickly again getting into the middle and upper 80s at the warmest point of the afternoon.

1. It's more than just the game: How teens are using sports to improve their mental health
As concerns over youth mental health continue to grow, communities are turning to an outlet to help young people cope: sports. From physical activity to social support, studies show playing sports can have long-lasting mental health benefits. North Carolina FC Youth knows youth sports can serve as an outlet to alleviate stress.
2. Thousands traveled to North Carolina for abortions in 2024
As states around the country tighten their abortion laws, North Carolina is seeing more people travel to the state to have the procedure. According to a study by the Guttmacher Institute, North Carolina performed the second-most abortions for out-of-state patients in 2024. The study found that more than 45,000 abortions were performed in the state in 2024, including 16,700 for patients who traveled from out of state.
3. Bill to expand prosthetic, orthotic access inspired by N.C. woman’s journey
Reagan Perry had her leg amputated years after doctors discovered a tumor. Perry was outfitted for a walking prosthetic. Insurance would not cover any additional prosthetics for physical activity. Reagan's Law would expand prosthetic access and require insurance providers to cover multiple devices, allowing Perry to return to tennis.
4. Brian Wilson, Beach Boys' visionary leader and summer's poet laureate, dies at 82
Brian Wilson, the Beach Boys’ visionary and fragile leader whose genius for melody, arrangements and wide-eyed self-expression inspired “Good Vibrations,” “California Girls” and other summertime anthems and made him one of the world’s most influential recording artists, has died at 82.
5. Tying it Together: The research behind North Carolina's roads
On this week’s episode of Tying it Together, host Tim Boyum tackles one of the biggest and most talked about issues in North Carolina: traffic. Dr. Daniel Findley, Associate Director for the Institute of Transportation Research and Education at N.C.
