Good evening, North Carolina. We’re wrapping up the day for you with the most important stories we're following and your weather outlook.

Your Weather Planner

Cloudy skies continue tonight with a few areas getting light rainfall as a system to the west continues to produce active weather for the Gulf Coast states. Temperatures will mostly drop to the lower and middle 60s by Thursday morning. There's a slight chance for rain overnight into Thursday with similar temperatures to what we saw Wednesday afternoon. Highs will generally be in the upper 70s to lower 80s on Thursday.

Scattered storms will develop in the mountains Thursday afternoon and we'll monitor how those storms manage their trip east. Some could reach Interstate 95, which is where we have a marginal risk for severe weather.

The chance for scattered storms will increase Friday as a cold front comes through. Depending on where the cold front sets up, we'll see the chance for rain drop as we head into the weekend.
