Mountains therapy camp where boy died disputes health department report

Trails Carolina is arguing against a deficiencies report issued by the state Department of Health and Human Services after the death of a camper in February but said it would make adjustments to address the issues found. The 12-year-old boy died at the camp just south of Asheville at Lake Toxaway. State officials said a determination about whether the camp's license would be revoked will be made in coming weeks.

Your Weather Planner

Temperatures will be a bit cooler as we start today under a mostly clear sky statewide. Expect temperatures in the 40s from the mountains to the western Piedmont and low to mid-50s from the eastern Piedmont to the coast.

Temperatures in the afternoon won't take a tremendous drop, but they will still trend a few degrees below average for this time of year. We'll enjoy a lot of sunshine through the day.

More of the same is likely for Friday, with slightly cooler morning lows and afternoon highs that will again sit below average.
