Good morning, North Carolina! Here's what you need to know today.

The Big Story

'It's really a stressful time': N.C. therapist concerned about medication shortage

Frustrations are mounting amid a shortage of stimulant medications. It's preventing many across the country from getting the prescriptions they need, particularly for those with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, binge eating disorder and narcolepsy.

The stimulant medication shortage started last year after a manufacturing delay, officials said, and high prescription rates complicated the lack of supply.

North Carolina therapist Veronda Bellamy says many of her clients with ADHD are struggling to access the prescribed medications they need, which in turn makes parts of her job harder.

Your Weather Planner

After a couple of comfortable summer days, humidity returns to the state, and along with it, chances for showers and a few thunderstorms.

Increasing humidity and scattered showers will be in the forecast for today as an upper-level disturbance passes through. The highest rain chances in the day look to be in the western half of the state, while more rain is likely late today and early Friday in the east. Temperatures will be held in check because of plenty of cloud cover in the west, while milder numbers across the east will be noted.

More rain chances and cooler temperatures are likely Friday.
