Two weeks ago, Judge Peter Lynch rejected Hussain's plea deal. Hussain originally pleaded guilty to 20 counts of criminally negligent homicide related to the limo crash in Schoharie that killed 20 people in 2018.
Jill Richardson-Perez, the mother of victim Matthew Coons, says she's hopeful for the proceedings after the judge's decision.
“I have never had or experienced emotions like I did at that moment," Richardson-Perez said. "It’s starting to look like it’s going to go the way it should go. I think everyone said ‘enough is enough.’ And I believe that Judge Lynch is the first person to say, ‘this is ridiculous.’ ”
In a statement, Kevin Cushing, the father of victim Patrick Cushing, says all the families are hoping for a more satisfactory outcome.
