The lawyers for the man facing charges in connection to the deadly limousine crash that claimed 20 lives in Schoharie participated in a virtual conference to discuss the future of the case.

Defense lawyers for Nauman Hussain released a statement following the conference, saying they're pleased with the progress being made leading up to the next in-person court appearance.

Lee Kindlon, one of the lawyers involved with the case, said in part, "I can say that all sides have gone to great lengths to factor in the wants and needs of the defendant, the public and the families of those lost in the tragedy."

Schoharie County officials say another virtual conference is set for July 29, and an in-person appearance regarding a possible plea deal is scheduled for September 2.

Hussain is facing charges of criminally negligent homicide and manslaughter.

In their report, the NTSB says both Prestige Limousine and the state are at fault for allowing the limousine to remain on roadways before the deadly crash in 2018.
