Here's what you need to know today.
Your Weather Planner
Hot and humid conditions continue for this first day of July. With the humidity, it will feel like it's around 100 this afternoon.
Much of the day will be dry, but a front moving into western North Carolina will likely produce storms that will move into our area after 5 p.m. and continue through at least around midnight before weakening.
The storms this evening could continue locally heavy rain and frequent lightning. There's also a marginal risk for a severe storm with damaging wind gusts.
Showers and storms with locally heavy rain should redevelop over parts of the area tomorrow as the front slowly tracks across the state. That will keep Wednesday's highs in the 80s.
Tomorrow afternoon will bring our coolest daytime temperatures for a quite a while. Highs will return to the low 90s by the 4th of July.
