1. Wake judge orders release of Highway Patrol videos from deadly crash
A Wake County judge has ruled that the North Carolina State Highway Patrol must release the videos from a deadly crash in Raleigh in October. Trooper Garrett Macario and Sgt. Matthew Morrison are under investigation for their handling of the crash. A petition was filed by news outlets to release the videos on the grounds of compelling public interest.
2. Governor visits PGA Championship, touting economic impact of tournament
Gov. Josh Stein visited the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club to end the week, highlighting what he said is the importance of golf culturally and economically to our state. With more than 200,000 spectators, the tournament is expected to bring in more than $100 million in economic impact.
3. Outdoor companies bouncing back after Helene
Kelly McCoy has owned RiverGirl Fishing Company since 2006. When Helene came through, the floodwaters along Elk Creek washed their warehouse away, along with $75,000 worth of gear. Now, McCoy is doing everything she can to reopen for the season. She's hoping there will be strong support for local businesses.
