1. N.C. lawmakers sign letter urging FEMA disaster preparedness program to be restored
A bipartisan group of lawmakers sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and the acting leader of FEMA David Richardson Tuesday calling for FEMA’s disaster preparedness program to be restored.
2. 3 tornadoes blew through Edgecombe in about 10 hours, officials say
Three tornadoes struck Edgecombe County over a 10-hour period as storms swept through central North Carolina from Monday evening through early Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service said. All three were classified as EF1 tornadoes.
3. Six months after election, Riggs sworn in for N.C. Supreme Court seat
The State Board of Elections on Tuesday certified Democrat Allison Riggs' 734-vote victory over Republican rival Jefferson Griffin in the North Carolina Supreme Court race. A federal judge last week ruled against Griffin's challenges to thousands of ballots in a dispute that also made its way through state courts.

Larry Miller, a two-time ACC player of the year for North Carolina and 2022 inductee in the College Basketball Hall of Fame, has died. He was 79. The UNC athletic department said Miller died Sunday in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. No cause of death was given. An athletic department spokesman said Miller was in hospice care and dealing with medical issues for some time.
