Jackson beat out Ramin Mammadov to win the Democratic nomination, The Associated Press reported Tuesday night.
On the Republican side, Harrigan defeated Jonathan Simpson, according to The AP.
Longtime Charlotte Congresswoman Alma Adams defeated John Sharkey to claim the Democratic nomination Tuesday night. She has been in the U.S. House since 2014.
The Republican primary was too close to call late Tuesday. Tyler Lee held a lead of about 2,000 votes over Andrew Huffman just before midnight Tuesday.
The 12th District includes much of Charlotte, northern Mecklenburg County and part of Cabarrus County. It is a heavily Democratic district and Adams will likely keep her job in Congress after the Nov. 8 General Election.
Longtime Rep. Patrick McHenry won his nomination in a crowded Republican primary, overcoming four challengers. McHenry has been in Congress since 2005.
In the Democratic primary, Pam Genant had a wide lead over Michael Felder, with 77% of the vote.
There were no primaries in the 8th District. Incumbent Republican Dan Bishop will face Democrat Scott Huffman in November.
