GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- We now have confirmation that a tornado touched down in our region during Friday's round of severe weather.
The National Weather Service says a "weak tornado" touched down in northern Gaston County before moving into Lincoln County, eventually lifting north of Lincolnton.

It was classified as an EF-0 with wind speeds between 65 and 85 miles per hour. The weather service says one injury was reported after a tree fell onto a house.
