Democrat Wiley Nickel won the election for North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District. Republican Bo Hines conceded just after 11:30 p.m.
The House race has been the most competitive in the state and attracted national attention.
Nickel won more than 51% of the vote as of 11:45 p.m. His opponent, 26-year-old Hines, had almost 49%.
Democrats did well in the other districts in the Triangle too.
Democrat Valerie Foushee is the projected winner of the election for North Carolina’s 4th Congressional District, the Associated Press reports. It was the first race called in North Carolina Tuesday night.
The Associated Press also projected the 2nd Congressional District for Democrat Deborah Ross.
The biggest race in the Triangle region is in the 13th District between Democrat Wiley Nickel and Republican Bo Hines. That one is still too close to call.

Foushee defeated Republican Courtney Geels in the district that runs from Durham to Burlington, up to the Virginia border.
As of about 8:15 p.m., Foushee had more than 75% of the vote in the heavily Democratic area.
Ross had more than 70% in the 2nd District as of 8:30 p.m. That solid blue district includes much of Raleigh and the northern half of Wake County.
“I am honored that the people of Wake County have put their faith in me once again to serve as their representative in Washington, and I am excited to represent many new communities in the new Second District. It is a privilege to continue being your voice in Washington," Ross said in a statement Tuesday night.
"I pledge this to the people of Wake County: I will always put you first and I will never stop fighting for North Carolina," she said.
