RALEIGH, N.C. — Voters in the Triangle on Tuesday approved more than 10 questions on spending a total of up to $1.9 billion to improve parks, greenways, and public schools and community colleges.

Raleigh had asked residents for authority to borrow up to $275 million for parks and recreation, and voters overwhelmingly approved, with 73.11% saying yes, according to the N.C. State Board of Elections.
Park advocates on Wednesday celebrated.
The Dix Park Conservancy, a nonprofit supporting the transformation of Raleigh’s 300-acre Dix Park into a “signature park” in the heart of the city, tweeted out a “Woo hoo!” and thanked voters.
An 18-acre play area at Dix Park is among the 20 projects across the city that will receive funding.
Wake County voters gave their assent to spending up to $530 million to build and renovate schools and up to $353 million for Wake Technical Community College for construction and expansion. Those two questions were approved by 70.98% and 69.51% of voters, respectively.
Among the questions in Durham County was whether to fund almost $14 million for expansion of the N.C. Museum of Life and Science. The referendum easily passed, with 78.90% of the vote, according to the elections board.
Museum officials on Wednesday expressed their gratitude.
Voters in the county also approved spending up to a combined $535 million on public schools and Durham Technical Community College.
Elsewhere in the region, Wake Forest voters said yes to spending on greenways, parks and roadway improvements, while in Johnston County, a referendum on public school spending also was approved.
