Freelance writer Robin Flanigan showed off one of the spots she wrote about in her new book, “100 Things to do in Rochester Before You Die.”

“We are headed to the not-so-secret, secret sidewalk on Lake Ontario,” laughed Flanigan.

She’s put together what is a travel guide of sorts to get you out and about discovering things you might not have heard about until now. Her book is kind of a bucket list, before you kick the bucket. For example, the secret sidewalk us a gorgeous stroll along the lake with a view of some beautiful lakefront homes.

“This is great,” said Flanigan as we walked along the secret sidewalk. “This is an example of people just being very free and open with their property. You just have to be respectful. The title says there are 100 things, but they are actually almost 160 things in the book because there are tips that go along with some of the entries.

The book is divided into several categories including food, drink, culture, history, sports, shopping and dining. There’s so much to do.

Flanigan has lived in Rochester half her life now and doesn’t plan on leaving anytime. She’s happy to share all of its hidden gems and inspirational trips with everyone.

“What I did appreciate was that there were things I had never heard of and I am hoping that even lifelong Rochesterians will find that out for themselves as well,” said Flanigan.
