Timothy Dean will spend the rest of his life in prison for shooting and killing Amber Washburn and Joshua Niles in Sodus last fall.

Dean, who was convicted last month, was sentenced Friday morning to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The courtroom was packed with relatives of the victims on Friday, some calling Dean a coward and a psychopath and urging the judge to sentence Dean to the maximum sentence allowed by law.

Convicted of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder along with conspiracy and criminal possession of a weapon, Dean never looked at the victims’ relatives as they addressed the court.

Dean, a former Sunray, Texas police chief, shot and killed Washburn and Niles in broad daylight in the driveway of their Sodus home in October.

He conspired with fellow officer Bron Bohlar and wife Charlene Childers, who have pleaded guilty to their roles in the crime. Childers was sentenced to 28 years in prison and Bohlar for up to three years in prison

The Honorable Daniel Barrett saying from the bench, "I don’t know which one of you three geniuses thought you were gonna get away with this."

In court, Washburn's sister, Angeline Vanhalle said, "Timothy Dean, a disgraced police officer, a man who once swore to uphold the law, now a murderer. A man who did the bidding for his adulterous wife, Charlene Childers."

The judge called Dean’s actions among the most horrendous, inhumane and simply pure evil acts he’s encountered in his career.

Prosecutors say justice has been served.

"I think the sentence is absolutely appropriate. Timothy Dean never deserves to be a part of our community or any community ever again so life without parole based on what he did and what he is convicted of doing is the absolute perfect sentence for him," said Christine Callanan, Wayne County assistant district attorney.

Wayne County District Attorney Michael Calarco said, "I think that the sentence was just, I think that he got exactly what he deserved and I think that he will probably get what he deserves in prison for the rest of his life.

"I think we’re all just very relieved that this is finally over. Justice has been served and we are just grateful that we don’t ever have to see Timothy Dean again and that we can just continue to move on, continue to heal and just try to keep pressing on and keep doing our best for Josh and for Amber," said Vanhalle.
