Alex Rideout, who was convicted of tampering with evidence in connection with the death of his father, will not be released from prison on parole.
State parole board notes say that during the interview, Alex at times acted defensive and defiant, going back and forth between deflecting responsibility to admitting that what he did was wrong.
The board concluded that Alex Rideout had not full processed what it said was the magnitude of his crime.
Craig Rideout's battered body was discovered in Yates County. Authorities say he'd been killed in the basement of his Penfield home.
In 2017, a jury convicted Alex's brother Colin Rideout and their mother, Laura Rideout of murder. Both are currently serving life sentences.
Alex, who was acquitted of murder, was sentenced to 2 and 2/3-8 years for evidence tampering. He was eligible for parole in March of 2020, but will was denied following a merit time release hearing earlier this month.
Family and friends of Craig and co-workers all wrote letters asking that Alex to remain in prison for the length of his sentence.
