Crews are working on a fire in a multi-family structure in Troy.

The fire started shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Jay Street and Sixth Avenue, according to Troy Fire Chief Eric McMahon. It extended into a loft area between the ceiling and roof, extending one building to the east. It's unclear how many apartments are affected at this point.

Multiple crews responded, and the size of the building created some difficulties, according to McMahon. The building was evacuated, and everyone got out safely. It's currently unclear how many people have been displaced by the fire.

The fire has caused street closures.
