Human remains discovered last month in Troy were identified Thursday as Amanda King, a woman who was reported missing from Glenville 11 years ago, city police said.
Troy detectives, Albany police and the New York State Police Cold Case Unit are now actively investigating the circumstances surrounding King's disappearance, which had been previously investigated by local police departments, according to Troy police.
"We continue to investigate Amanda’s cause of death," Troy police said in a statement.
Troy police were called to the skeletal remains, including a skull, found Oct. 20 in the area of Burden Pond near Campbell Avenue in South Troy. State Police previously searched there for possible evidence in Jaliek Rainwalker's 2007 disappearance, but a dental comparison conducted on the skeletal remains determined the skull was not Rainwalker's.
The investigation into dental records and a DNA analysis conducted by authorities determined the identity to be King.
