1. Albany County receives state funding to improve emergency services
The money comes out to more than $230,000, which will be used to help county operators offset day-to-day expenses. It can also go toward upgrades to technology, like new call-taking and dispatching capabilities, improved geo-location, or the introduction of services like text-to-911 messaging.
2. Cuomo: NY’s seven-day and single-day average positivity rates continue to fall to record lows
The state's 0.42% seven-day rate is tied with Massachusetts for the lowest in the United States, according to Johns Hopkins University data cited by the governor. The state's seven-day average has reached record lows for 16 consecutive days, and has declined for 69 straight days. Cuomo also announced that New York's single-day statewide positivity rate is 0.35%, a record low.
3. $2.5 million coming to Albany for new CDTA transit line
That money will go toward the Washington-Western BRT transit line. This new 8.5-mile line will include 16 stations, from the downtown Albany Bus Terminal through U-Albany and the Harriman State Office Complex, and then over to Crossgates Mall.
