When you call 911, you want emergency services to respond quickly, and Albany County has just received a large chunk of funding from the state to help make those services even more efficient.

The money comes out to more than $230,000, which will be used to help county operators offset day-to-day expenses. It can also go toward upgrades to technology, like new call-taking and dispatching capabilities, improved geo-location, or the introduction of services like text-to-911 messaging.

Albany County is just one recipient of this state funding, which comes out to $10 million. Rensselaer County will get nearly $145,000, Schenectady County will get more than $179,000 and Saratoga County will get nearly $139,000.
