A small earthquake occurred in the mountains of North Carolina late Wednesday night but thankfully, no damage was reported.

While weather is significantly impacted by the time of day, earthquakes pay no attention to the clock. A minor earthquake rattled western North Carolina late Wednesday evening.

The earthquake occurred at 10:23 p.m. Wednesday and registered a magnitude of 2.7.

There were reports of shaking in Asheville, Brevard and Hendersonville.

No damage or injuries were reported but the "Did You Feel It?" website with the United States Geological Survey has received 700 responses as of this morning.
