It has been a great year for the fall foliage across western North Carolina, and there will still be plenty of color to see across the mountains this weekend.
Due to a warmer-than-average October across the state, the vivid colors of fall have been seen a little later than average this year.
The highest elevations like Grandfather Mountain, Mount Mitchell and a few other spots along the Blue Ridge Parkway have seen peak color this week.
More fall color will spread across the lower elevations over the next several days.
If you're planning a visit to the mountains to see the foliage this weekend, you couldn't ask for any better weather! Look for plenty of sun with cool mornings and pleasant afternoons.
