A day after North Carolina's primary elections, GOP Senate candidate and former Gov. Pat McCrory was diagnosed with COVID-19, he said on Twitter.
McCrory hosted an election night party Tuesday night at Selwyn Pub in Charlotte, a city where he once served as mayor. He lost in the Republican primary to Ted Budd.
"Thanks for so many kind notes from friends and supporters since Tuesday. Have not been as responsive because I got diagnosed with Covid yesterday," McCrory said on Twitter Thursday afternoon.
"It's no fun!" he tweeted. "I love u all. Appreciate all your prayers for Ann and me. God bless."
Coronavirus case numbers have been ticking up again in North Carolina, but hospitalizations and death rates have remained relatively low, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services.
