Incumbent Democrat Vi Lyles (84.27%) and Republican Stephanie de Sarachaga-Bilbao (70.57%) had big leads in the primary elections to be the next mayor of Charlotte as of 10 p.m.

Charlotte voters will go to the polls in July to choose the next Queen City mayor and city council members.

Four Democrats ran in the primary, including Lyles. Two Republicans ran in the GOP primary for mayor.

Charlotte’s municipal elections were moved from last year because of delays getting population data for redistricting from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The general election for Charlotte mayor and city council will be July 26.
