U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will visit Raleigh on Thursday to tout the impact of the Inflation Reduction Act.

The Treasury Department said Yellen will highlight how the Biden administration efforts are helping “lower energy costs for American families and spurring investment in advanced manufacturing in communities across the country.”

The Inflation Reduction Act was the government’s largest ever climate-related investment, creating tax credits to incentivize clean energy deployment and manufacturing, and spur electric vehicle manufacturing and purchasing.

Yellen will tour and speak at Wake Tech Community College, which has used federal funding to launch jobs in the electric vehicle industry and in advanced building technologies. She will be joined by (D-NC) Gov. Roy Cooper.

Following the tour, Yellen will participate in a roundtable discussion with Raleigh business leaders at the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

In November, Yellen visited Gaston County to talk about the effects of the Inflation Reduction Act. She made a stop at Gaston College and Livent, a lithium hydroxide producer.
