A gas leak in Raleigh that closed a busy road into downtown for hours on Monday was reopened around 9 p.m., officials said Monday.

The gas leak began Monday afternoon, officials said.

McDowell Street was closed from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Davie Street, according to the Raleigh Police Department.

Davie Street was closed from Dawson Street to Salisbury Street.
