In North Carolina’s Republican presidential primary, former President Donald Trump won the state's 74 delegates, according to the Associated Press.

The AP called the race for Trump soon after results started coming in Tuesday night.

North Carolina is one of 16 states with primaries on Super Tuesday. The presidential race was not the biggest on the ballot in the state, with open races for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general.

Trump could come close to locking down the GOP nomination after the votes are tallied Tuesday. Haley is in a distant second for the Republican nomination. She won her first primary, in Washington D.C., over the weekend.

More than 690,000 people voted early in the primary, including almost 20,000 mail-in ballots, according to data from the State Board of Elections. The early voting numbers are down from four years ago, when more than 794,000 voted early or by mail as of the Sunday before Election Day.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday overturned a ruling by the Colorado Supreme Court, ruling that Trump would remain on the ballot.
