RALEIGH, N.C. — In the race for North Carolina governor, Josh Stein is projected to win the Democratic nomination, according to The Associated Press.
It’s an open race for governor in North Carolina this year, with Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper term-limited after serving in the top job since 2017.
Josh Stein, North Carolina’s attorney general, was widely seen as the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination. The other Democrats in the gubernatorial primary are former North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Mike Morgan, Chrelle Booker, Gary Foxx and Marcus Williams.
On the GOP side, frontrunner Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson is up against two other high-profile Republicans: State Treasurer Dale Folwell and Bill Graham.
The General Election is set for Nov. 5, when North Carolina voters will cast ballots for president, governor, the council of state, Congress, the entire General Assembly and dozens of local seats.
