A wanted man is dead after a confrontation with Cabarrus County deputies Wednesday, according to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office said it received a tip that a man with multiple felony warrants was on Odell School Road in Cabarrus County, an area northwest of Charlotte.
Deputies got a call shortly before 5 p.m. tipping them off about where to find the wanted man, the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office said 34-year-old Andrew James Marlow pointed a gun at deputies before they shot him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff's office said Marlow was wanted on two counts of possession of a stolen firearm and larceny of a firearm, three counts of felony breaking and/or entering, larceny of a motor vehicle and obtaining property by false pretense.
"Due to the nature of the warrants and potential risks to responding deputies, members of the Special Response Team were called and responded to the area," according to a news release.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting and the deputies involved are on administrative leave, the sheriff's office said. Both are standard protocol in deputy or police shootings.
