A pastor with Camino Church in Charlotte faces 14 charges involving sex crimes against children, dating back to the 2000s, Charlotte police said. Investigators said there may be more victims who have not yet come forward.
Robert “Bobby” Price, 56, is already a registered sex offender after a 2014 conviction for indecent liberties with a minor. He was arrested Friday morning.
Price is currently an associate pastor at Camino Church in Charlotte, police said. He's accused of crimes dating back to 2001 to 2011, when he was a youth pastor at Kings Way Baptist Church in Concord.
Price served 16 months in prison after his 2014 conviction on similar charges.
CMPD Capt. Jim Wright said investigators have not heard of any accusations against Price from his current role at Camino Church.
Wright said police began investigating last year when the first adult came forward with the accusations against Price. Since then, two other alleged victims spoke with police, he said.
Camino Church has not yet responded to Spectrum News 1's request for comment on the arrest.
The children were between 9 and 15 years old at the time, police said.
Price has been charged with 13 counts of indecent liberties with a child and one count of statutory sexual offense, according to police.
Investigators ask any other victims who have not come forward to contact the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Wright said some victims of child sex crimes take more time to report what happened.
"When that child is ready to come forward, they do. Some immediately report or disclose to their parents or friends. Others, it takes a while to process. When they're ready, they come forward," Wright said.
"We're always ready. And if folks have been a victim, or think they've been a victim, they're welcome to reach out to us. We don't force you to go through with prosecution," he said.
