GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Guilford County Sheriff's Office is looking to hire more people to become officers to work in its detention centers.
The agency has 76 combined vacancies at its Greensboro and High Point detention facilities.
According to the sheriff’s office, the Greensboro facility has 63 vacancies and the High Point facility has 13, meaning day and night shifts are three or four officers short of fully staffed.
“We’re more than willing to step in, whether it’s taking in a new intake, relieving a post or what have you, or even relieving some of those supervisors. So, for me it’s a way to stay grounded and not forgetting my roots,” said Capt. Rodney Beasley of the High Point Detention Center.
“So, it’s a challenge that we are not only facing alone, and to be quite honest, people just aren’t putting in applications," he said. "Quite frankly not everyone wants to do our job. Our job is not easy — it takes a special individual to do what we do on a day-to-day basis.”
A link to apply is available on the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office website.
