Zyneria Byrd joined Spectrum News as a multimedia journalist in March 2021. She is a native of Louisiana, where she graduated in 2016 from Xavier University in New Orleans with a degree in mass communications.

Prior to joining Spectrum News, she worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor for the NBC and Fox affiliates in Shreveport, Louisiana. While there, Byrd covered several high-profile court cases involving the shooting of two police officers, and two major hurricanes that hit the state.

She says great storytelling not only allows her to give others a voice, but helps viewers become better informed. She says it’s an honor to meet interesting people every day and share their stories with her community.

Byrd is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).

When she’s not at the news desk, you can find Zyneria learning new cooking recipes, traveling and experiencing new places or just relaxing at home watching a good movie.
