It's a quiet night in Kitty Hawk. Families have mostly gone inside, few people arfe out on the beach. I saw one couple walking, enjoying the evening. No rain and no gusty wind. Waves are picking up, and the temperature is comfortable.

9:17 p.m., Alexis Bell, Johnston County, N.C.

Rain has been on and off through the day here, but picked back up and have been steady since about 8:45 p.m. This area is expected to get more rain and stronger winds throughout the night. One thing residents and rescue squads are keeping an eye on in this area is the Neuse  River. Even after the storm passes, the river can continue to rise and potentially cause flooding. Johnston County Emergency Management is encouraging who may have to evacuate to make arrangements to stay with a family member, rather than a shelter because of COVID-19.
