CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — During the February 6 flooding, water poured into the bottom floor of the History Museum of Catawba County.

Staff sent a plea for help on their Facebook page and volunteers quickly showed up with buckets and supplies to help move the water out.

"It was a community effort," says Museum Director Bo Teague. "We had several people that came in and asked if they could help."

Teague says mostly the floor and carpet sustained water damage, but they have been running fans all week. He adds that no artifacts were damaged.

In order to help combat ongoing rain, the staff have placed sand bags and cement blocks where the water poured in last week.
