It’s been almost a month exactly since Brooks was killed while opening the family restaurant in the North Davidson community, also known as NoDa. Since then, family members have been searching for answers.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says they believe two men were responsible for what they think is an attempted robbery. Newly released surveillance video is expected to provide some help to catch the people responsible. There’s also some surveillance photos showing two men who are covered from head to toe. The community rallied around the Brooks family with an immediate outpouring of love and support. After four weeks and still no answers, the family is asking for help to try and put the people responsible behind bars.
“The support that we receive gets us through the grief every day. It’s not easy. It’s not easy. He was my twin brother and I just hope that this little bit of evidence and what we’re doing today is going to help find and convict someone. Can’t bring him back, but maybe bring a little bit of justice to not only us but the community too,” David Brooks said about his brother.
There is a $21,000 reward for any information leading to arrests in this case. CMPD says the FBI and private donors helped collect money to get the reward to that amount. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 704-334-1600.
