CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department provided new information Wednesday morning on the search for Scott Brooks' killer.
- Scott Brooks was shot and killed at his NoDa area restaurant while opening Monday morning
- Brooks' Sandwhich House is owned by Scott and his twin brother David
- No arrests have been made, but police say they are looking for two suspects at this time
CMPD homicide detectives said during a news conference they are still looking through video for a more complete description, but believe they are now looking for two possible suspects.
Police say the crime appears to have been the result of a robbery, but did not say whether anything was taken during the killing. According to the Brooks' Sandwich House website, the restaurant is a "cash only" business.
A $5,000 reward is still being offered through Crime Stoppers for any information leading to an arrest in this case.
The shooting was reported around 4:45 a.m. at Brooks' Sandwich House at the corner of North Brevard Street and Faison Avenue on Monday, December 9. Arriving officers say the business's co-owner Scott Brooks, 61, was found with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say he was in the process of opening when the crime occurred.
According to the Brooks' Sandwich House website, Scott and his twin brother David have been running the popular eating establishment since 1973.
Since the shooting, community members have been bringing flowers to the shop and paying respects to the family through social media.
Congresswoman Alma Adams also sent condolences on Twitter saying in part, "Charlotte will always be in debt to Mr. Brooks for his philanthropy."
A GoFundMe page has been established by family and friends to help pay for funeral expenses following this tragedy. Anyone wishing to help can do so through here.
Police say this is an active investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
