ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. -- The Rowan Little League softball team is still on a high after it won the World Series in Portland, Oregon earlier this month.
- The team requested to go to the White House
- This comes after the Louisiana boys baseball team was invited
- Sen. Thom Tillis says he's going to try to make it happen
But the team has a request.
On Sunday night coach Steve Yang tweeted President Trump asking for his softball team to get an invite to the White House.
It came after the president extended an invite to the Louisiana boys baseball team, which won its world series over the weekend.
“I was always taught growing up that girls can do anything that guys can do and I guess it should be equal. If they get to go, we can go,” said Rowan Little League player Carmen Freeze.
Yang said he’s heard from a lot of people since he tweeted the president. He got a call from Sen. Thom Tillis who said he’s going to try and make it happen.
